We often talk to our little boys about the baby we hope to have join our family soon. Just for fun, we will ask them what we should name the baby. One day, our three year old suggested "Materbaby". We had a good laugh and now affectionately refer to our hopeful baby as "Materbaby"!

Hadley

Hadley will be 5 in February. He loves art, building things with blocks, legos, and magnet sets, and books. He loves to learn and is a little sponge- he just soaks up anything we teach him! He has such a joyful personality. One of his favorite things to do is laugh, so he will often ask Blake to do something silly to make him laugh. He LOVES babies. Anytime we are at a store, church, or are remotely close to anyone with a baby, he has to point it out to me and tell me what the baby is doing and how cute it is. He talks often about what he will do with the baby...play toys, snuggle, teach them to do certain things, the songs he wants to sing to the baby.

Hadley has some unique challenges. He was born with a heart defect. He had open heart surgery when he was 8 months old. He has worked incredibly hard to learn and grow. He has some developmental delays, and will probably always be small, but it only takes a few seconds with him to feel the amazing, radiating spirit he has. The challenges he faces have made our family stronger, and give us good reason to celebrate the small victories. We cannot imagine our family without him!

Hadley came to us through an agency adoption. We were chosen by the agency to be his parents. His birthmom requested a semi-open adoption. We send her pictures and letters a few times a year. We have heard from her a few times, and each time have been grateful to get to know her a little bit more.
